Business Guides

Smarter DCIM starts with Remote Agents

Think of the toughest puzzle you have ever tried to solve. Some pieces are missing. And you are blindfolded. Now you’re starting to get a sense of what running a data center may feel like without the right tools. It’s probably clear by now where I am going with this analogy. Yes, there is a clever solution to get each piece - performance, security, scalability - to click perfectly into place. EasyDCIM’s Remote Agents do exactly that. And what’s key here is that these applications are just as impactful whether you’re handling a complex network or still mapping out your growth strategy. Let’s get into the mechanics of Remote Agents and why they might just be the missing piece. (That’s the last puzzle reference, I swear.) Find your inner balance (data center edition) Remote Agents equal dispersed architecture, and dispersed architecture equals spreading the workload across multiple applications, radically cutting down system response times as a result. Remote Agents take instructions from EasyDCIM (aka host application), execute delegated commands in real time, and get the job done using a dedicated API. Because who wouldn’t want to achieve more in less time? Feel less anxious Nobody likes surprises in their network - especially the kind that come with security risks. Remote Agents keep things locked down by limiting operations to their assigned subnets, creating an added layer of protection. Your sensitive data stays exactly where it should, and you gain more control over your setup without lifting a finger. Multitask... but effortlessly Let’s talk speed. Remote Agents handle multiple queries at once, thanks to multithreading capabilities. Imagine managing several complex tasks simultaneously without the dreaded lag. It’s efficiency at its finest, designed to keep your operations running smoothly even during peak times. Theory meets practice Here’s what Remote Agents bring to the table in practical terms: Polling data from network devices and servers using protocols like SNMP, IPMI, and Redfish Installing operating systems using built-in DHCP, TFTP, and Samba servers Acting as an IPMI Proxy, enabling remote noVNC sessions to access KVM consoles on servers located in private subnets. Grow your way with confidence Growing a data center shouldn’t feel like a logistical nightmare. With Remote Agents, growing is as easy as adding new agents or upgrading existing ones. All done in just a few clicks, thanks to EasyDCIM’s user-friendly interface. Whether you’re managing a single location or a global network, Remote Agents stay just as ready for what’s next as you are. Food for thought Here’s something to consider: how much time and energy are you investing in managing the little things? (See? No puzzle this time.) EasyDCIM helps you reclaim those hours by separating processes. So, the next time you’re looking for ways to optimize your operations, remember: a little help from Remote Agents goes a long way. EasyDCIM returns with a brand-new suite of features that promise to cut down on repetitive tasks, improve accuracy, and let your systems work harder so you don’t have to. What’s new? Let’s break it down to find out how the version 1.14.0 makes managing your data center smarter, faster, and dare we say, enjoyable. HaloPSA Integration: Centralized, Automated, Hassle-Free With HaloPSA Integration For EasyDCIM, making sure your information is synchronized between systems is no longer a balancing act. This brand-new extension automates the flow of device data from EasyDCIM to HaloPSA, allowing a clear perspective across your entire infrastructure. Supports metadata export for Server and Blade Server types, along with custom fields from HaloPSA’s API. Offers a dual-sync approach - schedule it via a cron job or trigger manually as needed. For businesses looking to tighten their asset management process, this can create a game-changing shift in everyday performance. Plus, HaloPSA Integration For EasyDCIM is available for free across all pricing models - why not see how it fits into your strategy? Single Sign-On: Simplified Access for Complex Systems Gone are the days of hunting down forgotten passwords. EasyDCIM v1.14.0 introduces Single Sign-On (SSO), enabling users to log in via an external authentication channel. This update supports major providers like GitHub and Google, as well as custom OAuth solutions adapted to fit your operational needs. Be it for yourself or your clients, this feature ensures that managing access to the platform is one less thing to worry about. What does this mean for you? No more storing multiple passwords or logins. A cleaner, faster workflow for your teams. An extra layer of security by consolidating access points. It’s a small change with a big impact, particularly for larger data centers coordinating multiple systems on a day-to-day basis. This option comes in especially handy for onboarding new infrastructure or performing system-wide updates, making IT management less about manual labor and more about strategic oversight. A Smarter Way Forward If you’ve ever thought, "There has to be a better way", this release is proof that there is. We have packed EasyDCIM v1.14.0 with features designed to fit naturally into your workflows - not ones you will forget before tomorrow. And trust us, we have only scratched the surface. EasyDCIM Features - Monitoring
Business Guides

Lead the way with EasyDCIM’s proactive monitoring toolkit

From small startups to large enterprises, our clients all agree on this – managing a data center is a job that never takes a break. Whether you are overseeing a few servers or dealing with a spread-out infrastructure, keeping everything running smoothly may often feel like juggling too many balls at once. And in a world where downtime can lead to frustrated clients and lost revenue, the stakes are high. That’s where EasyDCIM’s monitoring feature shines - it’s a solution designed to make your life easier, smarter, and more efficient. Instead of constantly putting out fires, you have the tools to anticipate issues and keep things running like clockwork. Let’s explore why monitoring with EasyDCIM goes beyond being just a helpful accessory - it’s a crucial safety net, or better yet, a business-saver for data centers of all sizes. Never miss a beat No data center is the same, and EasyDCIM understands that. Our platform includes a built-in feature that lets you configure automated system monitors, each with its own condition to trigger alerts for devices, network ports, power ports, and sensors. Want a single monitor to cover many devices or set various conditions for one specific monitor? With the extension called Advanced Monitoring For EasyDCIM, which vastly expands your basic monitoring options, it’s all in your hands. By using tags to apply system monitors across multiple devices and defining as many unique conditions as required, you gain the freedom to shape your monitoring setup to fit your business needs perfectly. There’s no need for overly complicated setups. EasyDCIM keeps things simple and efficient, offering you clear data at a glance. Whether it’s device's ping, network's total traffic, power usage or sensor reading, everything is right in front of you in an easy-to-understand format. That means less time spent sifting through technical details and more time focusing on your core business. Keep yourself in the loop Imagine being able to spot a problem before it turns into an emergency. When you use EasyDCIM, that’s exactly what you get. You can receive real-time alerts through most popular streams like email, Slack, and Telegram, that allow you to act quickly, preventing downtime and keeping your customers happy. Think of it as having a personal assistant who never sleeps, constantly ensuring your servers are running smoothly. But monitoring isn’t just about spotting problems. It’s also about making sure your infrastructure is operating at its best. EasyDCIM provides performance insights that help you fine-tune your systems for peak efficiency. The result? Fewer hiccups, smoother operations, and ultimately, a better experience for your clients. Let’s put all of this into a clearer perspective to help you picture the ultimate goal: Monitoring is based on five-minute intervals, during which EasyDCIM collects e.g. traffic data from network ports. This real-time insight may come in particularly useful when you set a monitor for a high threshold on either inbound or outbound traffic. Why? Because a sudden spike could indicate that an unwanted visitor is trying to launch a DDoS attack or some other type of intrusion. Luckily, as soon as it happens, you will be notified about it via preferred channel, allowing you to react promptly and avoid serious consequences - sometimes as critical as temporarily freezing the entire data center's operations. Now, can you see just how vital monitoring is for safeguarding your infrastructure? The bottom line With so many real threats sneaking around your data center, having a reliable, easy-to-use monitoring solution is simply a must. And with a system that adapts to your business as it grows over time, EasyDCIM isn’t just a short-term fix - it’s a smart investment in the future of your operations. So, whether you are looking to optimize your daily workflows, advance your productivity levels, or simply gain some peace of mind, EasyDCIM’s monitoring feature is the partner you didn’t know you needed - until now. Keep exploring!

Rackdog Case Study - EasyDCIM
Case Studies

Racing ahead with EasyDCIM’s automation – Rackdog Case Study

Information always matters in the reality of data center management. Whether it relates to the ins and outs of a given market sector or the complex systems underpinning your infrastructure, being in the know just pays off. At EasyDCIM, we deeply appreciate the value of staying in the know - especially when it comes to understanding how others view our efforts and rate the services we provide. To ensure we’re always improving, we turn to the best source possible: our customers. One such customer is Shon Manov, Co-Founder of Rackdog, who recently shared insights into how partnering with EasyDCIM has shaped their business journey. A quick glance at the background To give more context on Rackdog’s operations, we asked Shon for a brief introduction to his company. Here's the summary he provided: “Rackdog is an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider, offering bare metal, cloud compute, colocation, and IP transit. We cater to companies at any stage of their business cycle, from startups to enterprises, ensuring we meet their requirements and exceed expectations. At the moment we offer services in Ashburn, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Sydney but our network stretches far further than just these locations.” Of course, we couldn't resist a follow-up question about the company’s further development. Shon was quick to let us in on their plans to continue expanding their locations and global network, and to keep enriching their offer with new features and services. The move to EasyDCIM Now that we had a clearer picture of Rackdog’s business, we went on to inquire what led Shon to choose EasyDCIM. He pointed to the easy to use interface as a major factor, due to the challenges they themselves had been facing, and taking into account their clients’ common struggles: “Before using EasyDCIM, keeping track of inventory was not always the most efficient and created extra work for us. EasyDCIM also solved the problem for us of automating many of the tasks our clients used to have to open a support ticket for, such as virtual console and OS reinstallation.” When asked if they had ever tried out any alternatives to EasyDCIM, Shon explained briefly: “We used a previous solution, but ultimately it came down to their development team not actively pushing new updates and missing key features that we needed.” Reaching new heights Knowing that this stagnation in progress led Rackdog to our doors, we couldn’t help but wonder what the biggest wins for Rackdog were after switching to our services. Shon didn’t hesitate to share how the transition fueled their efficiency and let them experience a substantial improvement in automation: “EasyDCIM has helped us immensely by automating the provisioning and installation process of dedicated servers. We can now provision bare metal servers in under 20 minutes, including OS installation, without any human intervention. It has also made our support team's job easier with reducing the time it takes to troubleshoot and track down devices when we need to do physical maintenance on hardware.” Curious about which specialty on the EasyDCIM’s menu stood out most for Rackdog, we asked Shon to name his favorite. This turned out to be a quite demanding task, given the many features that made an actual difference in the company’s everyday workflow. Still, Shon managed to fish something out of the bag of the most appreciated functionalities: “It’s hard to pick one feature to call our favorite, but the automatic OS reinstallation has to be one of the most used and important features for us.” Looking to the future Whenever there’s an opportunity to ask bold questions, we jump at it eagerly. This time we couldn’t miss it either, so - encouraged by what Shon had shared up to that point - we asked him this: Would you recommend EasyDCIM to other companies? His honest response made us smile from ear to ear, and by us we also mean Konrad Keck, our CEO & Founder, for obvious reasons: “Certainly, EasyDCIM is not only a stable and reliable DCIM platform but also has a great support team (shout-out to Konrad - I know we are definitely not always the easiest to deal with =))” Like any forward-thinking entrepreneurs, Rackdog’s leaders are definitely not content to rest on their current success. As they continue to push boundaries and grow, we’re excited to support them every step of the way. And the question of whether we’ll continue delivering the tools they need to stride confidently doesn’t even call for an answer - we’re already committed to making it happen.

EasyDCIM v1.13.0 Release
Release Notes

From MikroTik VLANs to Ports & Sensors pages – EasyDCIM v1.13.0

At the core, EasyDCIM is about one thing: making data center management less confusing, because we all know that complexity is the enemy of progress. As technology races ahead, so do our ways to accomplish that goal. The latest EasyDCIM v1.13.0 release throws a few more tools into the mix, including the MikroTik driver and new data segments on assets, to keep your daily business operations both simple and well-regulated. VLAN Management for MikroTik Devices If you are working with MikroTik devices running RouterOS, your workload is about to get a whole lot lighter. Guided by user insights, we have upgraded our Switch Management extension with a new driver that makes this process easier to handle inside EasyDCIM. No more jumping between systems or command lines to make changes - everything is now accessible from one place. Here’s what you can do: Set up a new VLAN or clear up old configurations. Assign VLANs to specific network ports, making it easy to segment, visualize, and control traffic across your network. Shut down network ports or brought them back online. Adjust port speeds based on network needs to fine-tune performance on an ongoing and dynamic basis. Why does this matter? As networks grow in size and complexity, having a clear overview of your VLAN structure is crucial for optimizing traffic and security levels. Now, you can quickly identify which VLANs are assigned where, helping you avoid any misconfigurations that could lead to performance issues or downtime. Ports & Sensors: Smarter Network Hardware Management When you're managing multiple devices, especially in larger setups, finding a specific port or sensor can sometimes feel like looking for a needle in a haystack. To address this, we’ve introduced two new sections in the Assets menu: Sensors and Ports. Instead of navigating through each device's summary, these new sections present a clear, searchable list of all ports and sensors in your network. How to make the most of this update? Instantly filter and search for specific ports or sensors - no more guessing which device a port is tied to! View monthly traffic graphs to track network usage and identify any potential bottlenecks or irregularities. See at a glance summaries of how many ports are currently active or inactive, helping with quick diagnostics. Perform key actions - be it enabling, disabling, editing, or deleting - on any port. Why is this important? In large-scale environments, managing hundreds or even thousands of ports and sensors can become overwhelming. By bringing these elements together in one interface, you no longer have to dig through multiple layers of menus just to find what you need. Instead, the information is centralized, with filtering tools that help you zero in on the specific hardware you’re looking for. This is particularly useful when troubleshooting or planning future upgrades. Stay Notified with Telegram Stream Integration Being notified of critical events as soon as they happen is crucial in any network environment, but constantly logging into the platform to check for updates can be inefficient. That’s where our new Telegram stream feature comes in. By integrating EasyDCIM with Telegram, you can receive real-time notifications directly on your phone or desktop, making it easier to stay on top of important events without being tied to your dashboard. Whether it's system alerts, monitoring results, or network issues, you'll get updates pushed straight to your Telegram channel. Why Telegram? Telegram is not only widely used but also known for its speed and security. Its lightweight nature makes it ideal for receiving fast alerts, which is why we chose to pair it with EasyDCIM. As one of the fastest-growing communication platforms, it’s well-suited for administrators looking for efficient and reliable communication tools. Keep exploring! The updates you see here, plus more in EasyDCIM v1.13.0, are all built around one central goal: making your job easier. Whether you're assigning VLANs to MikroTik devices, keeping a close eye on ports and sensors, or staying effortlessly connected through Telegram notifications, these new features bring clarity and control to your data center like never before. It’s all about cutting down the routine so you can focus on the bigger, more strategic goals. Are you in? View the Changelog!

10th Anniversary of EasyDCIM
Business Guides

Making DCIM easy for 10 years!

EasyDCIM began with a simple premise: to reconstruct what has long appeared as an industry standard for data center management. With each passing year, we evolved, fueled by a blend of the latest technologies and customer feedback. Today, as we are about to proudly enter the monumental chapter of 10 years filled with professional growth and success, we find it essential to reflect on the unique factors that allowed our platform to originate the new standard for DCIM. The "THEN" Let's rewind the clock. The year 2014 sees ModulesGarden reaching the first of many accomplishments, with a team of nearly 40 talented individuals sharing an insatiable appetite for growth. It was in this vibrant atmosphere that we dared to venture into uncharted territory and establish a new brand - a decision that, as time has proven, would not be our last of its kind. Drawing heavily from the resources and expertise of ModulesGarden at early stages, especially in the context of the full-scale billing integration with WHMCS, EasyDCIM quickly became a self-sufficient branch of INBS.software. I remember it like it was yesterday. Ten years ago, there was a trend predicting that "dedicated servers will die" because of the large cloud hyper-scalers potentially taking over the entire market. We knew that dedicated servers had huge potential in terms of cost and performance, and that the cloud would never be able to compete on that level. In our opinion, the main problems were accessibility to the service and lack of automation. This is why we decided to build EasyDCIM - to make bare metal servers as simple for end customers as cloud services. This move was bold, to say the least. Launching a new brand mixes in equal proportions the excitement, the long hours of hard work (especially with ModulesGarden expanding rapidly at the time), high hopes, and numerous challenges. However, we succeeded. Over the years, we have grown consistently and strategically, shaping EasyDCIM based on regular updates that represent a combination of our own vision for enhancing DCIM and our clients' wishes. If we were to identify the most groundbreaking releases so far, the following would surely be on the list: Version 1.5.0:Built-in OS installer - Automatic installation of multiple systems from the Linux and Windows families. Version 1.5.2:IPMI Proxy and noVNC console integration. Version 1.6.0:A dispersed architecture model based on remote agents. Version 1.8.0:Visualization of locations, floors, and rack cabinets - featuring the world map, multiple graphs, and the building’s 2D view. Version 1.9.2:Quick Configuration Wizard - Basic setup of EasyDCIM in six simple steps. With EasyDCIM showing absolutely no signs of slowing down, we understood that our website had to undergo a similar transformation to stay current and maintain the platform’s modern appeal. In 2023, every single part of the website, from the Client Area to the Documentation and Blog, was rebuilt from the ground up with a focused agenda: to provide smoother navigation, richer resources, and an overall enhanced user experience. All to ensure you get the best out of EasyDCIM. The "NOW" Fast forward to the present, and our ethos remains unchanged: prioritize product quality over flashy marketing campaigns. After all, this project has never meant to be about chasing easy gains but about finding a long-term response to an authentic need and the lack of a suitable solution for ourselves and our existing clients. We continue to invest almost all our time, energy, and commitment into the platform itself. This approach extends to supporting various server hardware and software vendors. It turns out we were right. EasyDCIM has proven to be a successful project, helping hundreds of businesses and making a difference in our industry. The platform has now reached a high level of maturity and stability, though we continually find ways to optimize it, both in terms of the application's UI/UX and system requirements. Our goal is to keep EasyDCIM always up-to-date and built on the latest proven solutions, thus the latest version includes full support for Debian 12. After a decade, we are confident that a truly good product stands on its own merit, and that's where we focus our efforts. Our customer churn is virtually non-existent - once someone tries EasyDCIM, they stay with us for years. This philosophy has also brought us some impressive milestones: 500,000 servers and network devices around the globe are managed with EasyDCIM - and the count keeps rising! 150+ countries are home to our clients who have already experienced the benefits of using EasyDCIM, and the platform is set to reach even more! The "BEYOND" Another major factor that keeps us motivated is that our schedule never lacks new feature ideas for EasyDCIM’s future development. With our vast experience and thorough understanding of the web hosting sector, we have a clear vision of our path forward. We are continuously innovating and expanding our control panel to meet the evolving needs and requirements of our community. Our next objective is to expand EasyDCIM for more use cases, responding to the high demand for reliable automation solutions in different industries. That's all I can reveal at the moment ;) From day one, this experience has been nothing short of valuable and rewarding. What began as a spark of inspiration has ignited a revolution in data center management. We stand tall, not just because of our passion, but because of the profound impact EasyDCIM keeps on having on real companies like Colohouse, DigitalServers, and countless others - industry giants and up-and-coming players alike. Today, as we embark on this next chapter, we would like to thank you, our dearest customers, for being a vital part of our decade-old story. Without your invaluable input and encouragement, reaching this significant milestone would have remained far out of reach. One of our top priorities is expanding the functionality of our customer portal to support full automation and API capabilities for all products and services, not just bare metal. Sounds big, and I’ll most certainly be keeping up. Now, speaking of the whole decision-making that lies at the bottom of your development, I wonder what exactly made you choose EasyDCIM. Joe: We chose EasyDCIM because of its native integration with WHMCS and enterprise feature set including PDU, switch, and IP address management. It was a simple, cost effective, all-in-one solution to managing our local and remote bare metal hosting deployments and associated parts inventory. Did you use any other solution and face some sort of problems that ultimately made you switch? Joe: This is precisely what happened. Previously we leveraged a combination of in house solutions based on open source software that was not natively integrated. IP addresses were in a separate system from provisioning, which was separate from PDU management, and so on. The disjointed and custom nature of the old way of doing things caused a lot of operational overhead. Once we realized that, we knew we needed something different, and that’s when we decided to give EasyDCIM a shot. Luckily! In a nutshell, what is it about EasyDCIM that has helped you achieve your goals? Joe: Efficiency at scale is a primary driver to our success at Colohouse. Utilizing software that "just works" so both your staff, and your customers can have a consistent and positive user experience. Let’s have a glance at the toolkit. What is your favorite feature of EasyDCIM? Joe: Asset tracking and instant - and reliable - provisioning are definitely top features. Our favorite though, is the integrated IPMI & iDRAC proxy that allows customers to access remote consoles from our billing system’s client area, without needing to assign public address space to facilitate the connections. This is all done over an internal private network that works independently within each data center location and is fully happening behind the scenes. I always felt it was essential we focus on streamlining remote server management as much as possible. My consideration: automation brings convenience, and convenience brings customers. Given what you’ve already said, would you recommend EasyDCIM to other companies? Joe: We would definitely recommend EasyDCIM to any bare metal hosting provider looking to better automate or integrate their systems. The support team behind the scenes has been rarely needed, but excellent to work with. New feature requests or functionality changes are always met with open minds and added to the product roadmap. Migrating to EasyDCIM was one of the best decisions our hosting department has ever made. It truly is an amazing feeling when you hear someone praise what you've been doing, and the way you’ve been doing it. Thank you, Joe, for your time and all those kind and enthusiastic words about EasyDCIM. I truly hope that both our companies will continue to grow in strength, and that our paths will remain crossed! Joe: Cheers to that! This is not the first time EasyDCIM has been met with such hearty applause. And there's a reason for that: we never fail to attend to our customers’ needs, and we never make stops on the progress road. Need guidance on your own data center journey? EasyDCIM v1.11
Release Notes

EasyDCIM v1.11.0 rolls out Debian 12 support and ASUS driver

At EasyDCIM, we understand that going with the flow of the most up-to-date technologies is pivotal to put your data center at the forefront of the dedicated server market. As we are determined to achieve this goal, we keep pushing boundaries. Today we are glad to announce that you can confidently take another step on your path, as the new 1.11.0 version of EasyDCIM has just been rolled out. Let’s have a look at what’s in store now. Welcoming Debian 12 Staying true to our word, we decided the time has come to bid farewell to Debian 11, and embrace full support for its powerful successor - Debian 12 “bookworm” which from now on will stand as the sole supported system for installing EasyDCIM and remote agents. Since the launch of Debian 12 brought a comprehensive suite of new packages (over 11089 to be precise, contributing to a total of over 64419 packages!), updated software, and advancements for users across various fields, there’s no way EasyDCIM’s compatibility with the latest version of this prominent Linux family member can go unnoticed. Among the benefits you can expect of this powerful integration, here come the most noteworthy ones: Seamless installation and updates of EasyDCIM and remote agents thanks to the implementation of a new installer and updater Improved smoothness and security of essential computer operations due to upgrading the majority of the system’s libraries to the most recent version Enhanced performance of the platform and even better protection from digital threats resulting from a series of vital improvements Swift transition from Debian 11 ensured by EasyDCIM's automatic upgrade feature Given all that, the question whether we could lay any better and more solid foundation for our platform remains purely rhetorical. Let’s proceed then. New layers of Redfish support On the occasion of the release of version 1.9.9, we boasted about our IPMI integration extension tying the compatibility knot between EasyDCIM and the Redfish protocol in order to streamline the management of servers from widely-recognized manufacturers such as Dell or Supermicro. Our today’s launch breathes a fresh scent of novelty into this sector by introducing a new driver tailored explicitly for ASUS servers. This feature opens the door to automatic identification of essential server information as well as gathering detailed data on the server hardware components, including processors, RAM, hard disk drives and solid-state drives, and network interfaces. The Redfish protocol now also proves useful when it comes to careful monitoring of the server performance - thanks to automatic detection of sensors in ASUS, Dell and HP servers, and integrating their parameters into EasyDCIM, you can constantly keep a watchful eye on your infrastructure and promptly address any malfunctions. Where do we go from here? More in the field of proactive maintenance is expected in future updates of EasyDCIM, as we are currently working on enabling administrators to set custom limits for sensors and to receive email notifications whenever any of these limits are exceeded. Expanding on the topic of administrative tasks and their smooth flow, let's not forget that the Redfish protocol allows remote device restarts and boot/shutdown actions. Keeping track of power consumption How about being able to define limits on the amount of power that servers can consume? Thanks to the new function added to our Usage Collector extension, you can establish thresholds for power usage for servers that support the Redfish protocol. What’s more, you can now receive email alerts if a server exceeds the predefined setting so that proper preventative action can be taken. Previously, this option was only available for PDU devices via the SNMP protocol. Wrapping up now, we are excited for you to get a glimpse of the big picture regarding our recent accomplishments.
